On Saturday, March 8th,
a Service of thanksgiving for the life and work
of Siôn Ifan Evans was held at Capel Tegid, Bala.
Siôn lived and worked here at Coleg y Bala as
Deputy Manager and was a Youth Leader for the
Youth and Children’s Service. The hundreds that
gathered to the service was a mark of how Siôn
had touched the lives of everyone he came to
contact with. Many of his close friends spoke
about Siôn Tirgwyn, Siôn at University Bangor,
Siôn the work colleague, Siôn in Bala, Siôn as a
witness, Siôn the Congregationalist, Siôn the
traveler, Siôn the neighbour and Siôn the
friend. Two facts were heard clearly about Siôn,
his faith in the Lord and his humour among his
friends. A verse that was heard repeatedly at
the service was “Not to us, Lord, not to us but
to your name and glory, because of your love and
faithfulness,” Psalm 115:1 We will all have very
fond memories of Siôn and will continue his work
to exalt the name of Jesus Christ and bring the
Gospel to our children and young people.
