Souled Out Reunion 2007
We kick started the New Year with over 20 young
people coming together for the Souled Out
Reunion. The theme for the weekend was
“Amazing!” and we had a great time looking at
how amazing God is and how this impacts our own
lives. During the Friday evening session we were
looking at Jesus’ life here on earth and how the
works, ministry, life and death of Jesus amazed
the disciples and the people at that time. We
were taken through the story of Jesus, starting
with the prophesies of His life and death, and
finishing with the amazing promise of His return
that He left us with. A few people gave their
testimonies on how God had amazed them recently
and we each had time to reflect on the amazing
things that God has done for us, both personally
and on a worldwide scale!
On the Saturday we had the pleasure of Arfon
Jones joining us from Cardiff to speak. During
the morning session we were looking at incidents
in the Old Testament where God had sent His
fire, revealed His glory to the Israelites, and
how the Israelites saw how amazing God was and
the only way they could respond was in worship.
He was challenging us to keep this fire burning
in our lives, not letting it go out (Leviticus
6:13).
We had a great time on Saturday afternoon at the
leisure centre and the free time was a good
opportunity to catch up with old friends and new
and generally to build relationships and enjoy
being in the company of other young Christians.
In the evening, Arfon Jones led us in another
session at the different ingredients needed to
keep feeding the fire by following the example
of the early churches in the book of Acts: how
we need to read the Bible, share in fellowship,
share in the breaking of bread and also to come
together in prayer.
The theme for Sunday morning was mission: taking
the amazing things we know about our amazing God
and sharing it with those who need to hear! We
all know that when we hear some good news, we
want to share it with everyone in our path, and
this is what we were challenged to do with the
Good News we have heard and know about Jesus.
The weekend as a whole was an amazing experience
of God and seeing how He is working in the lives
of so many young people: a weekend of
encouragement and challenges, praise and
worship, fun and fellowship.
