Where am I Who's Been Here? 3

Who's Been Here, October 2006

St. Thomas, Denbigh

On the 15th of September a group of young people from St. Thomas, Denbigh, joined us here at Coleg y Bala for a weekend along the theme of “Change”. The weekend started with a collection of team games and after a refreshing walk and a thought-provoking epilogue everyone was ready to go to bed and recharge their batteries, ready for the sessions the following morning. During the first session we read through the story of Saul’s encounter with God on the road to Damascus and then his conversion to Paul – and how his life changed as a result of becoming a Christian! The two teams then rose to the challenge in the second session: to re-create the story in photographs. These photographs were then shown during the Sunday morning along with a few laughs. During the Sunday morning we learnt about Jesus dying on the cross to save us and the change that Jesus has made in the lives of some people and had the opportunity to ask Jesus to come and change our lives. An enjoyable weekend!

Welsh Youth Weekend

22nd September saw the arrival of 32 youths from across North Wales. They all arrived prepared for a weekend of fun and fellowship. Friday evening was full of activity and you could still hear the excited chat, as people made new and met old friends, going on until the early hours of Saturday morning! During the sessions on the Saturday morning we split into groups to discuss Saul’s conversion to Paul and many questions were raised such as “Can Jesus change the life of anyone, even murderers?” and discussing the importance and significance of becoming a Christian. After an afternoon in the swimming pool, a game of rounders as the sun set and a relaxing sit down during a film in the evening, an epilogue was lead on the passage in Ecclesiastes, telling us that there is a time for everything. During the Sunday morning service some of the leaders performed a short sketch based on the T.V. fashion gurus Trinny and Susanna. The message showed us that it is the inward change that can be seen on the outside that is important! Before we knew it, it was time to swap phone numbers and e-mail addresses and say farewell – the time to go home and sleep.
