Where am I Who's Been Here? 3

Who's Been Here, November 2006

We’ve had many different groups staying with us in October and during the start of November, children from Llŷn & Eifionydd, Youth from Penrhyn Bay, Children and Youth from Caernarvon, and a group on the ‘Children’s Weekend’. We’ve also had a few groups visiting us during the evening, and two schools staying with us for a few days during the week. So many different events, but it’s been great welcoming everyone here, and to have a chance to enjoy while sharing our faith. Here are two articles written by Rhiân Barrett about two of the weekends, and a few pictures from the courses.

Youth weekend

After supper on Friday night, a group of girls arrived at the college with their youth leader. Friday evening was action packed with plenty of entertaining games to play, a film to watch and then a late night epilogue, looking at how much God knows and loves us despite all our failings. Saturday was also a very busy day with two morning sessions looking at the conversion of Saul to become Paul, lunch, swimming, craft and another session before heading home Saturday evening. They may have been a small group, here for a shorter weekend than normal, but it was still good fun and worthwhile.

Children’s weekend

We welcomed a faithful group of children and their leader from Holywell for this weekend, looking at the theme “What’s in a name?” On the Friday evening we had fun looking at the meaning behind our names and the names of people in the Bible, and then the meaning behind the name ‘Jesus’. We played lots of games later on in the evening and then bedtime. During the Saturday sessions we looked at different names of Jesus and what they mean for us: The Son of God, and then Jesus the Saviour. Late in the morning the children worked together in pairs to make a collage of the story we had looked at in the first session: Jesus walking on the water. After lunch we went swimming and many of the children did try to walk on the water, but discovered that they could not.
In the evening we had a session followed by “The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe”. After the film there was an epilogue to re-cap on what we had learnt and to see how different parts of Aslan’s life illustrate what Jesus did. On Sunday morning we had a session to finish and then it was time to say good bye until next time!
